NOS - 1976 Suzuki RE5 Rotary

eBay (USA) Auction, Jan 2013, £13,550 (47 bids, Reserve Not Met)
 Seller Description:
"1976 SUZUKI RE5 ROTARY– BRAND NEW, 0 MILES FROM NEW ORIGINAL SURVIVOR!  Manufactured 4/75
This Suzuki RE-5 is a brand new example of the most important rotary engine motorcycle  manufactured by Suzuki in 1975 and 1976 that became a permanent part of Suzuki history and still represents the fantastic performance and technology of rotary technology…

The condition of this machine is brand new with less than one mile on the odometer, 7/10 to be exact (no motorcycle delivered to a dealer ever actually has 0 miles on the odometer) and is completely original and un-restored.  It has had no miles accumulated on it from the time it was new. The frame and engine numbers are factory correct and original.  It is the 500 cc engine. The gearbox is also original to the machine.  This RE5 is completely original and has never been apart or restored in any way.  I believe I am the third owner from new.  It is in showroom new condition, and is a historical piece that should be preserved by the new owner in part for future reference on restorations of other RE5s.

This machine has been in my collection for some time and has been started recently to make sure everything still works.

When I purchased the bike, it had been sitting for some time in completely original condition.  I also discovered it hadn’t even been dealer prepped when new.  I went through the machine top to bottom and checked all of the major engine, transmission, and braking components for functionality and safety.  The gas tank was still in as new condition, with no wear evident.  The carburetors were inspected, cleaned, and re-installed, the air filter checked, all fluids changed, and both front and rear brakes were taken apart cleaned, re-built, and re-installed, the consequence of the bike sitting idle for a long period of time.  As for the oil, I used Castrol GTX.

The tire on the front is the original INOUE Grand High Speed GS-8 F1, 3.25 H19, and the rear tire is the original INOUE Grand High Speed GS-8 R1 4.00 H18.  The tires and tubes have NOT been replaced and, while not as soft and pliable as when they were new, are in amazing original condition, with no cracking or dry rot evident.  The wire wheels are also original, and and are in excellent condition.

The seat is original and the upholstery is in perfect condition with no rips, tears, or wear of any kind.

The engine and transmission are in excellent interior condition due to being brand new and absence of any type of harsh storage conditions or abuse throughout its life.

A complete cleaning and detailing was performed, and although detailing on an original machine is never completed, the overall condition of the finishes is remarkable considering the age of the machine.

The aluminum parts are in excellent condition overall, but due to the originality, I did not want to go too far polishing any parts.

The chrome is also in near perfect condition.

The paint on the gas tank and side covers is the original black and is, along with the original gold stripes, flawless.  The original badges are still applied to the gas tank and side covers.  All of the plastic covers, etc. are in excellent condition and are not in need of any type of repair.

I have two other RE5s, a '75 and a '76, and I will say that they are very easy to handle and maintain.  They shift and accelerate smoothly and hold the road just like any other modern bike should.  These bikes are really interesting to ride and a lot faster than you think.

There is absolutely NOTHING that needs to be done to this machine to enjoy it as a showpiece.  If the new owner does decide to ride it occasionally, there’s nothing that needs to be done to take it on the road. Unlike a lot of collector motorcycles for sale on the internet, this RE5 is ready to ride and not in need of any expensive service once you get it home.
Please note that I have the ORIGINAL certificate of origin AND a clear title for the motorcycle.  The new owner somehow kept the certificate of origin when he applied for plates, so it will be included with the sale."

Low Mileage: 1981 Honda CD50

eBay Auction, Dec 2012, sold £1,000.00
 Seller states:

"Very rare, especially in UK. Believe it is 1 of 3 imported.

This bike has been in a shed since 1984 and will make a great winter project. Completely original and unmolested, showing 1,587 km or 985 miles. Everything as it left the factory. Never seen salt, but there is some surface rust here an there.

The bike is mechanically in excellent condition with everything working besides the indicators which need a new relay. The engine runs like a sewing machine after 28 years with nothing more than a new plug, it started second kick!

The bike was bought by my father from the Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co Ltd Japan in 1984 as a 3 year old bike. It had been used by an engineer surveyor during the construction of an oil tanker from 1981 to Oct 1982. It was subsequently transported to Rotterdam on board this wessel from where it was transported to the UK. All customs duty paid for, receipt supplied.

The bike was then never used and has sat in the shed ever since. It has never been registered but all paperwork needed is with the bike. "

Low Mileage: 1965 Wolseley Hornet Mk2

eBay Auction, Dec 2012, sold, £2,250.00
16,000 recorded genuine miles from new, but has been stored unused for many years. Engine has been running from a fuel can.

Bodywork is generally very good, it would make a great rolling restoration project, the chrome on the bumpers has suffered and would need re-chroming, the interior is in excellent condition as you would expect.
